The Season, Nightly To 3 January 2027
The 2026 Illuminations switched on on 4 September and run every night until 3 January 2027. The display stretches about six miles along the Promenade, festoons, tableaux and interactive features, and VisitBlackpool calls it the greatest free light show on Earth. The switch-on time moves earlier as the nights draw in, so check the times for the night you plan to travel.
Because the season runs through the autumn half term, every November weekend and right into the New Year, there is no single rush. Pick a quieter midweek night and the Promenade is calmer, the ride queues are shorter and the drive is easier.
We Sell The Driving, Not The Tickets
To be plain about it: we are not a ticket agent. We do not sell Illuminations tickets, ride wristbands or attraction entry, and nobody needs a ticket from us to look at the lights. The display itself is free, and anything ticketed in Blackpool, the heritage tram tours, the rides, the attractions, you buy from the operator on the day or before you go.
What we sell is the trip. A premium 8-seater with a driver who knows the road, collected from your door in Southport and returned there at the end of the night. If a coach holiday site is selling you a seat on a shared coach from another town, that is their model. Ours is your group, your vehicle, your timetable.
How An Illuminations Night Runs
We pick you up at your door at a time you choose, and the run up the coast is around 33 miles, usually 50 minutes to an hour in normal traffic. On busy lights nights the last stretch along the Promenade slows right down, and we plan the timing around it.
From there the evening is yours. Cruise the display from the warmth of the vehicle, stop and walk the Promenade, book the heritage tram or the rides, eat, then head to the agreed pickup point and we take you home. Extra pickups or drop-offs within the Southport area are £5.00 each, so a group splitting between two houses is one booking and one £5 extra.
Why Take The Minibus Instead Of The Car
Blackpool on a lights night is busy, and the car park hunt at the end of it is the part nobody misses. A driver drops you, deals with the traffic, and collects you from an agreed point when you are done. Everyone travels together, the conference seating means the group sits facing each other, and the big boot takes pushchairs and coats without a fight.
Nobody has to be the designated driver, so everybody gets to enjoy the night.
Travelling With Children
Bring your own baby car seat and we store it free of charge between journeys. Pushchairs ride in the boot, the USB sockets keep the tablets charged, and the LED lighting makes the cabin part of the evening. Tell us what you are bringing in the special requirements box when you book.
Groups Bigger Than Eight
A second 8-seater minibus or a car can be arranged on request, so two families or a larger group can travel together. Mention the numbers when you ask for a quote and we will confirm availability for your date.
