The 2026 Dates, Checked

Manchester Christmas Markets run from Friday 6 November to Tuesday 22 December 2026, and Albert Square and Cathedral Gardens keep trading until Sunday 3 January 2027. Across in Liverpool, the Pier Head market opens on 20 November and the St George’s Plateau market opens on 21 November, and both run into the New Year.

Daily hours vary by site and by city, so check the market’s own pages for the day you have in mind and set your pickup time around them. Midweek evenings are quieter in both cities, and the early December weekends are the busiest dates of the season, so book those early.

We Drive, The Market Sells The Mulled Wine

To be plain about it: we are not selling market entry or gift vouchers. The markets are free to walk into and you buy food, drink and gifts from the stallholders on the day. What we sell is the trip: an 8-seater with a driver, collected from your door in Southport, no town-centre parking, no last train to chase, and a ride home at whatever time you set.

The Manchester Run

Manchester is around 45 miles from Southport, usually an hour or so in normal traffic. On a market evening the final approach into the city centre slows, and we build that into the plan. We drop you close to the market squares and agree the pickup point and time before you set off.

One minibus takes the whole group, so nobody meets on a platform in the rain. Our Southport to Manchester Airport taxi page covers the same road for flights, and the market trip runs to the same standard.

The Liverpool Run

Liverpool is the shorter run down the coast, and the market sites sit at the Pier Head and on St George’s Plateau with the waterfront between them. It makes an easy evening: down for the lights and the stalls, a walk through the city centre, and home again with the pickup already arranged.

Making An Evening Of It

The minibus has conference seating, so the group sits facing each other and the run down is part of the night. LED lighting, USB sockets for charging phones, and a large boot that swallows the shopping on the way back. You choose the pickup time when you book, so staying on for the evening lights costs you nothing but the cold.

Children, Car Seats And Pushchairs

Bring your own baby car seat and we store it free of charge between journeys. Pushchairs ride in the boot with the coats, and the special requirements box on the booking form is where you tell us what you are bringing.

Groups Bigger Than Eight

A second 8-seater minibus or a car can be arranged on request. Work nights out, two families, the whole street’s Christmas do: mention the numbers when you ask for a quote and we will confirm availability.

More Seasonal Trips From Southport

Before the markets start, the same vehicle runs trips from Southport to the Blackpool Illuminations, and that page has the 2026 to 2027 season dates checked.

The rest of the year it is the same vehicle: the minibus hire page covers weddings, nights out and UK breaks, and airport transfers from Southport run all year round. Our airport transfers page covers every airport we serve.

Christmas Market Trips From Southport: FAQs

Do you sell Christmas market tickets?
No. The market areas are free to enter and you buy food, drink and gifts from the stallholders on the day. We sell the transport: door to door there and back.
When are the Manchester Christmas Markets 2026?
Friday 6 November to Tuesday 22 December 2026, with Albert Square and Cathedral Gardens staying open until Sunday 3 January 2027. Check the market's own pages for daily opening hours before you set your pickup time.
When does the Liverpool Christmas Market open?
The Pier Head market opens on 20 November 2026 and the St George's Plateau market opens on 21 November 2026, and both run into the New Year. Confirm the hours with the market for your date.
How long is the drive to Manchester?
Around 45 miles from Southport, usually an hour or so in normal traffic. On a busy market evening the last stretch into the city centre slows down, and we plan your timing around that.
How long is the drive to Liverpool?
It is the shorter of the two runs down the coast, and we will confirm the timing for your pickup point when you book. The market sites sit between the Pier Head and St George's Plateau, so the drop-off puts you right among them.
Is there room for the shopping?
Yes. The boot is large, and eight people's Christmas shopping fits in it far better than it fits on a packed train.
Can you take more than 8 passengers?
Yes. A second 8-seater minibus or a car can be arranged on request, so larger groups travel together.
